Some got baskets....

I got a new design board.......

I've wanted a design board for some time.  I really wasn't sure what I wanted but I did my research and asked my wonderful husband to lend a hand and he did just that!!!!!!!!!!
How lucky am I , I do know that I must approach him with "specifics" generalities never get forward motion :)....at least not in this house!  But once he saw what I wanted to do he was full steam ahead....so I like to think ha ha...
The process Started yesterday at Loews....
We purchased a piece of foam insulation and had it cut to 4x6 at the store. It did fit in the car but was still a challenge....cost - $10.00  and change!

Trimmed my batting to 4 additional inches on each side....
Next step - remove the silver backing....Writing side of insulation facing down....
Placed batting (I choose white) on the flour.  We used the foyer since it had no carpet and allowed for a smoother placement..

Next placed insulation sheet on batting - no picture - sorry!

Once on the floor we secured the batting to the back starting in the middle on each side. It was suggested in some posts to use a staple gun - for us - no luck! The packing tape worked just fine!
The corners were a bit tricky but as you can see - I folded them neatly!
Next we secured the packing tape with strong dock tape.
This secured the batting and I am sure it will not move - :)\
Secured to the wall in my sewing room....and yes it is level!!
Up and finished!!!!
Being used - YIPPEE!!!!!!

We have these great guys in our lives and they do so much to help us never understanding what we really do!!!!  I for one - and so glad I have mine!!!! I bet you are too....

Hope you all had a great Easter day doing whatever brought you joy! Next year I will have munchkins living here in San Diego and oh the day will certainly be different!!
Forgot to tell you total cost $29.00

Until next time ....

Another one finished.....

I love getting quilt tops completed....such a good feeling!  Now, all I need to do is get the back made and the quilting set up!  Hurry home Colleen :)
I am really excited to get the back together, as I mentioned before I will piece the back and I have it just about set and ready to sew....

This is a bit bright for me so once quilted and bound I will age it like I have done with others....

This is a square quilt and was inspired from a quilt in Barb Adams and Alma Allen book - "Weekend"....

The sashing and outer border are Jo Morton's new blues...love them!

I worked three days last week so I am a bit behind on sewing.  It's fun to work and see everyone but sewing time takes a hit.  This week maybe I can get a few solid days of sewing done...If only I didn't need to cook, wash clothes, clean and food shop my week would be just perfect!

We are off to visit another fun place of mine today..Penzeys.  I love to cook and this is by far the best spice shop around! It's like going to a candy store :)

Here is peek at my next small project!

A small project by Cheri Payne.....

Have a great Sunday and enjoy whatever you are doing!  Just make it fun! Until next time...

Please celebrate...

Yes, today is National Quilting Day....share the joy with all your fellow quilters out there...

My hats off to all of you this this fine Saturday morning :)

I have been so busy this week trying to get a few projects ready for quilting. So many projects in the "almost" stage is overwhelming for me.....doing my best.

Just recently Jo Morton came out with a wonderful selections of blues...It motivated me to dig out a project from last year and get it put in the "complete" pile!

I believe I shared a bit of it last year but then it just sat there.

I only had 8 blocks done when I pulled it out, so as you can see I have been busy. I also decided to change from the pattern I originally started.  I really like what I came up with...hope I feel that way once it is complete....

Getting closer....will share the completed top this week.  I have one final border to add.

I think I really like the end product.  I have also planned a great back.  Backs are something I enjoy doing.  Piecing backs is a joy, and for me it's a way to tell a story about the front.  At least with bits and pieces....It may not make any sense to anyone else but I know what it is saying.... :)

and for a final share....

This was from my bedroom window Thursday morning....I love seeing this first thing in the morning!

So....remember to celebrate today and then enjoy your week-end!

Back and busy....

Hi everyone...I had great intentions :)

My trip to Seattle was wonderful.  My son-in-law did great with his surgery and he continues to improve.  My daughter is just waiting for sunshine but hanging in there and the  little bundles of joy were just that ...A JOY!!!!

Are they just the cutest????
Yes, Cooper is so gentle and loving to his sister Emma....

Emma  is just days away from taking her first steps. She loves to stand and in this case the window is the perfect place to pull up.

My week in Seattle just flew by.  I arrived home late that Friday, spend a wonderful day with my husband on Saturday and THEN....SHOP HOP BEGAN.....

It was such a success.  We had soooooo many quilters visit our shop. Check out our blog to see the fun things we offered..  We had old friends and new friends... the groups continued to visit each day!
We also had a bunch of wonderful "husbands" visit.  It truly was fun to talk to them about quilting...Some were up on the newest and some....well, they were just the driver but ALL I N ALL - EVERYONE HAD FUN.

So, since my return I have been very busy.  Tomorrow I teach a class all day and then...a few days to stay put and sew.  Lots of things in the works...I will share a few next week!
We are in for a very warm and sunny week here in San Diego...for me that is heaven!!!! I will be enjoying it for sure...

Just a thought to leave you with today....

A great friend shared this on Facebook - thought it was a message we could all use... :)

Have a great week....and....
