Blessings....

I love this day, but not for the reason many may think!  We don't go out and celebrate but instead cook something together for an "at home" quiet celebration...and then to bed early :)

This is a great time for me to look at all the good and beauty this past year has given...great times with family, new friends to share this new year with, health for all of us, joy with our munchkins and all the great days that had nothing special but a beautiful day for sure!

A few of my SMILES.....

Making quilts for two of my kids - just love and joy!!

Fabric selection for projects that never even got started  :)

Our annual summer family picture when we are all together...

Asking Papa to watch the kids while I paid at Old Navy....can you find Ryder, Cooper and Emma?

and most of all - quiet times....

I wish you the best for all the great moments you will have this coming year...be sure to enjoy it all :)

Remember - SMILE always....

A good thing....

Yes, it is now officially winter....

Cuddle with me while sip cups filled with hot n’ sweet yumminess in the cold crisp beginnings of winter. ~ Charlotte (PixieWinksFairy...
This is such a great shot...reminds me of when I lived back east...there is something very peaceful during this time of the year.

BUT....what I love most of all....yesterday was the longest day of the year...each day gives us...a little more light, a little more sunshine and a bit closer to warmer weather :)

Enjoy your day....

Hugs and SMILES....

Two shares....

Happy Thursday...Christmas is almost here.....

I have such great memories of this from my childhood.  My dad just loved it and it was a "must have" in our home during the Christmas season....

Ribbon Candy....I never see it but this past week it appeared at a local store.
They had a very big box of all flavors but this size was just enough to make me SMILE and go back in time for a great memory!

The next "share" is not something from the past but something new that I am now going to do  with all quilt finishes starting in January.  I follow Norma Whaley from Timeless Traditions.  I love everything she does but her labels are fantastic!!
I put a label on my quilts (well most of them) but this is so much more personal.  I can just see this being read years later and I bet the reader will SMILE...
Hope you don't mind if I take your idea Norma :)  So many fun things to do with your labels.

Today my husband plays Santa at Rady Children's Hospital.  It's such a great event!  It is certainly a time to count our blessings....maybe I will get a good picture to share...:)

Hope you have a great day and you are ready for the elements where you live.  Rain here for sure.

Remember - SMILE always and please be sure to share a hug!!!

Beautiful day....

It has been a beautiful day here in San Diego....sunny, not hot and such a blue sky....these days are treasures.

We started the day by taking our Bichon's, Elwood and Palmer, to the groomer. Elwood hates car trips and Palmer would go cross country in a heart beat :).  They will be very happy to return home clean and groomed....:)

We then went to visit a friend who was doing a show at "Summers Past Farms" here in San Diego...
Her name Is Sandra and she has a fabulous blog. Take a minute and check it out!
Under The Sun With Me...She is so talented and so artistic...I love what she does.  I can play with fabric but when it comes to gardens - not my thing at all  :)  so I just enjoy what she does....

Here is her booth.....so adorable

I know its not the best picture - but I had to share :)

I didn't take home a plant but I did take how this adorable angel....she is very happy sitting in my tree.  Thank you Sandra...I love her!

It's such fun to enjoy a beautiful Saturday...hope you had as much fun as we did :)

I shared many hugs today....it was a great feeling - hope you have shared a few yourself!

Remember SMILE always....

Let the fun begin....

We had such a great Thanksgiving...hope you did as well :)

It's now time to get ready for Christmas - my FAVORITE holiday....just ask my kids :)

I have several projects to finish, a little more shopping to do but I feel as if I am in charge this year...hope I'm right...ha ha ha

Yesterday my husband and I made the dreaded journey to storage to get out Christmas things. It's always a project but the end result is worth it!!

Here are a few things we accomplished yesterday....

I collect Santa's...the little ones are how the collection started. They were given to me by two of my kids...they are certainly favorites :) My oldest gave me the one that visits under our tree...will share him later....
The large one on the end I made.  It was a class from Joann Mullaly.  I had so much fun making him.  It was several years ago....

For many years my honey gave me a new one each year....this was always a favorite. We stopped a few years ago because I was well over my limit :)

This sign was a new addition this year...I love it!!!!  Yes, it came from the Country Loft :)
I try to add something new each year...the lamb in the basket is Emma'a..he lives in this basket when she is at home :)...I think he needs a little Christmas bow :)

Such a fun time of year....it brings smiles to all and I love it!

Have a great week and be sure to put a bow on all the SMILES you share this week...

Special moments....

Our "Fweep over"   per Emma

Such a fun week-end!  We had another great time with our little munchkins...As Emma said - "we are having a Fweep over Grammy"

Not much better than this....

Nothing better than a room full of air mattresses and pillows :)

Ready for bed - not ready to sleep!!!

Best waffles ever when made with Papa's help!!

A nice ending... a Sunday morning walk at Santee Lake to see the ducks...
Great time :)

Binding on....on to the next!!!

Hope you all have a great week getting ready for Thanksgiving....a busy time but a great time!!!

Have a great day and share a bunch of hugs this week.

Very good idea!!!

During my trip to market with Kathy Cardiff I was exposed to one of her booth displays....

"The Inspiration Board"
It is a great idea and trust me....many people took pictures and many light bulbs went on to do it at home in sewing rooms and studios....
Me too.....:)

It is where many idea begin for Kathy....

So...I gave it a shot to start one for myself....
I know - pretty sad but its a beginning.  I WILL NOT put anything on there that I don't have an interest in doing....after all...creativity is a process :)

But...you get the idea, we all do design walls but this is just another option when just "wonder4ing" what would work well together!!

So....my tip for the day  :) - hope you enjoyed!

Have a super week all and remember - to give the hugs to those that need them. If any extras just share....

Remember - SMILE always...

Back at it!

Well,

My last visit here had me in Houston....What a great but very busy time. It was such a treat to meet so many great names in Quilting.  Will not mention names here but you can well imagine :)

When I returned for Houston I had two days of down time...not really, but I did try to call them that ha ha....and then off to the Country Loft for a full week of work getting ready for the annual Christmas Open House....You can also view pictures on Facebook for the Loft....

This is from our "Shed".  done so beautifully this year...

THEN.... my brother in law was with us for a couple of days...I worked but it was a good time for the guys!

Now, back to getting it done :)  I have two large quilts to bind for Christmas....

The board I kept tract of the blocks needed!  120 blocks - was I crazy :)

One binding on and ready to sew down YIPPEE....
Won't show the 2nd because my daughter peeks at the blog every now and then...

One more binding to sew on and then just stitch away....

So thrilled to say hello....it's always a happy spot in the day...

Have a great week - I am sharing my hug with my little Emma and Cooper...how about you??

Remember - SMILE always....

Heading to Houston

Hi Everyone,

I am heading to Houston tomorrow to assist Kathy Cardiff for the International Quilt Market.  I have worked with her at another show a while back in Kansas City.  I truly look forward to this event!

Set up on Friday, show Saturday, Sunday and Monday...fly home Tuesday.....

We will not be staying for Quilt Festival...This is the show that is open to the public after the Vendors market.I understand it is amazing but we are heading home. I will be ready :)

Not much sewing being done here...but once I return - I'm on it!!!!

Thought this was adorable....

I saw this pillow on Norma Whaley's blog and thought it was great.  I love the colors - a soft approach to fall!!! I believe it  was on a post she did from the Quilters Attic.
Loved it!!!

Well, back to packing and then a Quilt Guild meeting tonight!

Enjoy whatever you are doing but most of all SMILE and give a hug :)

Happenings....

Happy Columbus Day!!

Time just flies....

This past week-end the Country Loft had a guest teacher....Debbie Busby from
Wooden Spool Designs.  She taught both Friday and Saturday....Such a fun few days to have her here in San Diego!

On Saturday we had a few local wonderful ladies join in the fun.....Cheri Payne from Quilts by Cheri and Kathy Cardiff from The Cottage at Cardiff Farms....

Debbie, Kathy and Cheri!!!
  Such great talents :)

I made a decision this past week - PUT EVERYTHING AWAY that is not a project needed for Christmas!!!!! For some reason I have been challenged to stay focused...So...I had only one choice :)

This will be three gifts!  I love the wool and linen and I will be cutting today!

I have another distraction - but one I love and so enjoy!!

Yesterday we went swimming in the pool and then came back and made cupcakes :)
Such a bundle of joy and love!!!!!
Love our Cooper and Emma!

Hope you all have a great week. I am about to start the Christmas count down....

Be back soon to tell you about another little side trip I will be taking :)

Remember - SMILE always and yup!  share a hug with someone today!

I finished!!!!!

Happy Thursday everyone!!!

Well,  I have finished BOTH quilts that are for Christmas and both are at the quilters - YIPPIE!!!!!!

I can't show pictures now but trust me - I will let you see them after the holidays!  Now, just binding to put on and sew down.
I've promised, promised, promised myself that I will not dawdle and get both completed as soon as I get them back!!

In the meantime I have been busy. Two weeks ago I worked at the San Diego Quilt Show....What a great experience.  My job was to check in all the vendors that arrived at the convention center dock.  It was really a fun experience.  It is amazing all the work that goes into a show.  Hats off to the the gals that put this show together and thank you Catherine for asking me to help!.  No,  I didn't take pictures :( but I did see some beautiful quilts!

Most of you know I work PT at the Country Loft.  We are doing a BOM next year (starting in Jan) that is from Timeless Traditions - by Norma Whaley.  I picked up the quilt from Norma at the Quilt Show and it is now on display at the Loft. It is just beautiful....the pattern is called "How Does Your Garden Grow"

I took the liberty to take a few pictures before I turned it in :)  take a peek at this!

It is just so warm looking and just so inspiring!
I took another shot outside :)

Such a beautiful combination of fabrics and the wool applique is wonderful.  It really makes you smile when you look at all the delightful block designs. Norma does beautiful work and not only that - she is as sweet as can be!

I am starting a small project (in comparison to the Xmas quilts) and I cant wait to get started!

Once I finish a big project I clean my machine, replace the needle, fill bobbins and get ready to start again!!!

I work for a few days so the break will be good....back at it Sunday...or Monday morning!!

Hope you had a good day today - I did and I shared my hug with my friend at breakfast :) did you  share yours?

Remember - SMILE always...

Back on track!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

We had such a great time with the gang all here.  Laughter, sillies, good food and tons of new memories...
It doesn't get much better than that :)

I am back on schedule with my quilting "must do's" I had very little time to sew and it feels good to be back at it!

Football season will be here very soon and I always have hand work to do on Sunday afternoons...It has become tradition in this house....

So far....
Back from the quilter, binding ready and on the winder.  Once I get it sewn on it will be a Sunday project to finish hand sewing...
The quilting was done by my friend Colleen.  She does beautiful work.  Check out her blog - she posts pictures of her work all the time...Quilting Under the Sun...

A little mini I made, ready to hand quilt!

Off to the races today (Del Mar) with my honey.  We are going to a business event there   :)  should be fun!

Have a great week....

Remember SMILE always.....and do share that hug with someone special :)

A little play time...

Yes, I am busy getting ready for "family fun" this week but this afternoon I took an hour (for sanity time) and played with something new....just one hour!!!!

I thought this would be such  a big challenge - NOT!  Loved it!
Watch my 1 hour project!
Made a 9 patch block with 6" blocks - forgot the first picture :)
Used the ruler for my first curved cut....so easy....

Cut my second cut from 4" x 10" pieces...simple as can be...
So easy to sew - notice no pins!!!
My first curve done in no time :)
All 4 curves attached - notice not accurate at all - :) doesn't matter!

All squared up and ready to go - Yippee...however this is just a sample block :(.

Now you may be wondering why I have been so vague...I am not the teacher but this is where I learned...
The tutorials are fantastic for this ruler and the ruler - is so easy to use!!!!
My pattern is "Metro Lattice" - from Sew Kind of Wonderful...

I am using the pattern like Thelma is doing from Cupcakes n Daisies. Take a peek!

I must get back to what I need to do but I had to share this.  I worried so that it would be difficult - a waste of worry :) quick and tons of fun...so now I can put it on my list of things I want to do and enjoy the anticipation!

See you next week- I have tons of hugs to give this week - hope you share a few too :)

Remember - SMILE always...

Leftovers....

Where does all our time go....it seems like it was months ago that that I confirmed that  the "gang" would be here in August.  It's here......next week and I am just getting into gear  :)
It's a week-end (four days) each summer that all three kids, better halves and munchkins arrive for a 4 day marathon!!!!
Love it so much but I better get in gear and have myself ready for the event!!

I found a box of "leftover" 1/2 square triangles a few weeks ago.  They were the "throw aways" from a Kim Diehl quilt I did last year.  I decided to see if I could use them in some way and not just let them sit!

After searching my "stash" I found this great  fabric by Blackbird Designs for Moda that will work just fine as alternating blocks. A few things to finish first but this will be a fun little quilt to made - a quick finish I hope!!!

I am loving dots :)...I have red ones, blue ones, tan ones, brown ones and I bet a few  others I didn't even notice in the pile!

Have a great week-end and do something fun!!!  I will clean for all of us over the week-end!!

Remember - SMILE always and yes give that hug!!!  I gave mine to my honey this afternoon just because :)

Happy....

Hope this is a good day :)

Yesterday I put the binding on a small project that I wanted to try....It was inspired by a quilt I saw (and posted about) from "Quilting With the Past" I loved her bright and happy quilt so I gave it a try...it was fun using colors I never use :)

Mine is very simple but it was fun to do...

I have a little antique table in my spare room and it fits just fine on the top....

Now I must get back to work on the "must do"s" staring me in the face :)

Have a great day, give a hug to someone that may need it and....
Remember... SMILE always..

Instagram

Hope everyone had a wonderful week end!  I enjoyed mine :)

I wanted to let you know I have added an "Instagram" button to my blog....This is a quick way to add pictures while working on a project or during a quilt shop visit. It allows me to quickly share from my phone, what I see with all of you!

I guess that's why they call it INSTAGRAM....:)

This is  just another way to share...,thought you enjoy!! I am just starting so not many posts yet :)

Have a great week and share that hug - never forget!!

Busy, busy, busy....

I do hope everyone had an enjoyable 4th., mine was busy but most enjoyable..

We have hit the mid year point and I have two large quilts to get done before Christmas.  How thrilling to tell you one is ready to be put together and the 2nd has 1/3 of the blocks made.....
What's that expression - "biting off more than you can chew"...yup that's me!

All 56 ready to put together...

They  have all been trimmed and ready to go!
They were a little off so I trimmed them down to 12 and a 1/4...hope they go together well!!!!  I try so hard to be accurate but then sometimes :) :) :)

My goal when I started this project was to do nothing else until they were complete...it didn't but it's OK. Sometimes you just have to change the scenery ...haha

So, with that said...
A fun little quilt that will be just fine for next year if I don't get it done. The red triangles will be pinwheels when it's complete.

I'll be back later with a few beautiful "finishes" from our "Get It Done" group....they have been working very hard!!!!

Have a fun week and enjoy.  I do hope you have not been caught in the horrible weather!

Remember - SMILE always and yup, a hug for a friend would be nice :)

Some days....

I just don't know if I want to work on something bold or something that's low volume....

I have several WIP's but I have two "must do's" and a few "just want to's" so I share my time. The must do's will be back at the front of the line tomorrow but I will share a few things that I have been trying to complete from my "want to's"...a little bit at a time gets all WIP's complete!!!

Yup, its my Jo Morton Smore's quilt...all blocks complete...sashing strips being added!

A "Spring Day" getting closer to a finish :)  So enjoyed this!

When I went to post I realized it had been a while since I've posted...lots going on with family, work (we had our quilt sale at the Country Loft a few weeks ago), a huge success, and our favorite little Munchkins!!! This time of year keeps us all busy  :)

Our first sleepover since they have been back in San Diego....a success for all and tons of fun. As you can see Cooper wanted everyone to have a "Grammy blanket"  We cherish these time!!

Do hope you are enjoying this time of year....it's goes so fast so be sure to take time to stop and smell the roses!!!

Remember - SMILE always....and hug a friend!
