It's DONE!!!!!

Happy to be back :)

This past several, several weeks have been such a project....replacing carpet with wood floors throughout the entire house was such a a major undertaking!!!  Not only that. but we did an upgrade in our kitchen....
I will spare you my pain and just tell you it is complete, we love it and life moves forward....
If you ever decide to do such a project - let me know I will help you keep your sanity :)

My original plan - do my sewing room first, get it back in place and I would hide in there during the remaining weeks of turmoil!  It didn't work....my sewing room was the last to be put back together and that's all I will say about that!!!!

A week ago I decided I just had to sew - I had a great little book form Temecula Quilt Co  "T is for Tiny".....so I found a box with scraps and just started sewing!!!

This was my selection....8" x 9 1/2"

I selected a different background and finished it this morning!

Love it!!!

.

I got this great little display stand at Temecula Quilt Co as well....

This little piece will always be special - it was little bit of sanity during the last several week....
So life is good and things are back to "normal" whatever that is ha ha ha....I do know I have several projects lined up to get finished!!!!

Hope you are having a great summer and doing all you want to do!  I am now ready for a little calm and nothing much on our plate!!!

Remember SMILE always and please, please share a hug!!!

Can I make it?

Happy June -

Yes, it has been a while....

For all of you that have done a remodel in your home - you might have a big SMILE for me and be quick to tell me - "this too shall pass"

Our project started three weeks ago and came to an immediate halt!  All justified.... The delay started about 2 hours into the initial project and by then the bathroom floor had been removed and we had moved as much as possible from the bedrooms...utter chaos so I thought :)

I set up a sewing space in the kitchen and got these 5, plus 2 more squares completed.  This is the TQC summer project....4" blocks....I was enjoying a new sewing spot and really thinking all would go well....
A week later we started again...

This is the picture I saw for the next 5 days - all floors are being replaced with hard wood - even the stairs. All carpet has left the building!  Kitchen is getting new counter tops and I am now wondering what did we do!!!!
So.... feeling a little overwhelmed I got a new planner.  This is a July to June edition.

Love, love it!!!
This one is all about setting actions for the week, planning projects and getting things accomplished!
With all the changes (wonderful changes) I want to be sure that I get back on track and get things accomplished! I feel so much better when I have a plan....
I do love being organized....

So...not sure when I will be back but it wont be long....I will be busy gathering the tons of dust around here :)

Until next time -

Remember - SMILE always and please share many hugs to those that need a little sunshine...

A finish....

Remember my squares from last week???

Certainly not a favorite but a finish!!!!

I have been purging our house to get ready for wood flooring to be put down - what a project!!! Everything must be moved so why not do a good job of letting go of what you think you need and only keeping what you really need!!!! Well maybe a few things I just cant part with!!

My sewing room was my project from yesterday - oh my gosh!!!!!  I'm sure that all I let go will never be missed 1 ha ha ha.............
Today I am all tidy and loving the freedom from all I had that I never needed....  no picture....

I will be back soon...until then more rooms to tackle :)

Remember - SMILE always  and share your hugs...  its the best feeling!

Share day....

I thought I would share what I have been up to these past few weeks... besides having a sleepover with our Munchkins, having  a "girls day" with my little Emma and getting ready to do a major remodel in our home....:)

Completed and quilted by my dear friend Colleen...Love this vintage look...binding is ready to be put on and then a good wash to make it even softer and older looking....
Another 'mini' completed - still need to quilt this one!
my APQ 4-patch project.  Just 6 rows left to sew together and then the sections put together...this will be completed early next week. and off to Colleen :)..this quilt has about 408 4 patch blocks and about the same number of solid squares...all are 2.5 inches....
Took my "Smores" by Jo Morton off the shelf.  I'm ready to get this one finished!!!
Last but best of all - Cooper flipped his first pancake when we made breakfast Sunday morning after our sleepover - these are the best times!!!

Please let me wish all moms and grandmoms the best ever Mothers Day.... enjoy the day with those you love and let them love you!!!

Remember - SMILE always and yup!!! give tons of hugs....

Should be fun...

Good morning,  I hope all of you had a beautiful Easter - we sure did!!!

A few months ago I got a new and exciting addition to my quilting world,  I had no room for a longarm but I really wanted to try free motion quilting. I wanted the ability to do small pieces myself.  I tried to say I didn't need it but desire won!!!!!  I have a great husband and he went with me and cheered me on )  Lucky to have him....

My Sweet Sixteen - trust me - it was a very tough learning curve.  There were days I wondered what I would do if I never "got it"...I had to work on my "muscle memory"...but guess what I  mastered it and I lover it!!!

So, I need small pieces to quilt and practice on so I am starting a collection of small quilts that I have wanted to do for some time. Now I can make them and quilt them myself.  I good place to practice :)

A few I have selected to make....small, easy and quick....
This on is from the current Quilt Mania - Sawtooth Nine Patch
This is from the book Lizzie's Legacy - Selling Butter
Lori Smith's - Quaint Little Quilts #3

I have my APQ 4 patch project far enough along to entertain a new project.  I also have another small project far enough along that I'm not feeling guilty :)

However - this will slow be down getting started  :)
Yup - the mandolin won Easter morning - please...always use the guard!!!!!...... two weeks in this thing in hopes my finger and nail will grow back....:(

Hope you are sewing and enjoying spring wherever you are....I love this time of year!!!

Remember SMILE always and please give an extra hug today :)

Enjoying this one....

Well,  I have completed ALL the needed 4 patch blocks for the APQ quilt along. I am now making great progress on getting them put together....
This has been a great project.  I have used almost all Judie Rothermel fabrics and I am very pleased with the almost finished outcome....

I must admit.... my inspiration is from Temecula Quilt Co....I love everything she does  :)

The rows are going together perfectly....with 2" finished squares I was a bit worried.  The cutting of the strips went smoothly and I focused on my 1/4" seams....It's being set "on point" and I really like the look.

I've had so much fun filling my little metal basket,

I hope to have it together by next week....time will tell :)

When I get to this point I like to look ahead....another inspiration from Temecula Quilt Co...
I had this book and I really want to "improve" and "perfect" my applique.  Doing all the same shape should help with my skills....will see what I actually end up doing :)

Have a great day and do what you enjoy!

Remember - SMILE always and always give hugs....

Just to let you know......

THIS WAS AWESOME.....

Ultimate-Chocolate-Chip-Cookie-n-Oreo-Fudge-Brownie-Bar-12

My daughter made this this past week-end just to test it out because it looked so outrageous! It was!!!!!   Oh my goodness - I ate 3 bites from my husbands serving and I was so satisfied... I just had to share....The only thing she would have done differently is crumble the Oreo's instead of leaving them whole :) To save calories she didn't used over stuffed Oreo's as called for :) joking!!!!

I know, I know - not at all healthy and those that know me well are probably laughing that I ate it :)

If you are ever in the mood to indulge guests or family or just because - try this!!!

and....don't forget the ice cream and hot fudge sauce (heated)....makes it perfect :)

Have a great day and I do hope you are all having warmer weather - :)

Remember - SMILE always and I share my hug with all of you today!

Keeping myself in check....

Happy Wednesday everyone!!!

I have been busy trying my best to stay on track with my projects.  It's amazing how fast we can get excited about something new. BUT my promise (to myself) was  to finish something first :)

I have three serious projects in stages and I WILL stay focused....

#1. My "Lovin' Red" quilt - all the little Churn Dash blocks ---- front finished I just need to piece my back and get it off to the quilter!

#2. My Christmas quilt project with all the trees and Santa - all set to stitch the pieces down - two trees done....many more to go but I am trying to do at least one piece a day when I am home.

#3. the APO challenge - I have 303 4 patch blocks done - about 190 more to go!
All 3 projects are posted in previous posts....

Now projects for the future....

Too many to post but I did find this and thought how fun this would be with all the scraps and fat quarters that I have just sitting around....
This is from a favorite blog I follow Quilting with the Past - I love what she does....

So....nothing big and new to share but I do like saying HELLO....

Happy sewing and happy hug sharing!

Remember - SMILE always....

Progress...a good thing!

I've had a few extra hours this week.....so I made the best of the time....

My Christmas wool project has been on a bed just waiting to be pressed down for stitching.  I have had a block as to how I would get it done so I just moved onto something else!
WELL...about 3am I woke up and said "the island"....not sure why I made this such a challenge but thoughts while sleeping can be so helpful.....

I took it down to the kitchen, iron and pressing cloth in tow. I placed a tablecloth on the island and got to work!!!
The island has been such a helper when cutting but this was perfect!

All pressed down and ready to stitch....

Now to decide what thread to use for stitching....Valdani #12 or Genziana wool thread?????

This has been a fun project and I look forward to the stitching!!!

So....a good week - progress on may things, I will fill you in later.....

Have a great week - SMILE and hug someone that needs it to help get past this crazy winter!!!  Thinking of all of you in the cold....burr!!

Happy Thursday everyone!

I started on my "Go For It" quilt along from APQ....How many of you are doing the challenge?

Here is my meager start but - A START - :)

I do love the fabrics and I love scrappy!!

I have no idea how big I will make it but for sure not a King size....I'm thinking about somewhere between a Wall Hanging and a Twin - only time will tell.
The little I worked on these today I can tell you - it is addicting!!!!

Let me know if you are doing the challenge and what your colors and size will be...

Happy Friday tomorrow and the a great week-end!

Be kind, be thoughtful and always share a hug!!!

Fun week-end with Pam Buda....

Well...it was a huge success!

Pam is just a delight and such a talented lady!!!  She gave a lecture on Friday evening and then a class on Saturday and Sunday.  Unfortunately I couldn't take the classes because we had to keep the Loft open  :).  Trust me...I enjoyed watching all the progress in the classes and the energy that you could feel from all the gals in the class....

Pam giving her lecture Friday evening....

We hung about 30 quilts from Pam's "Prairie Women's Sewing Circle Club"
We have this club at the Country Loft but you can learn about it from Pam's store
This was such a beautiful and inspirational display!!!!!!

We had Pam's quilts in every nook and cranny in the Loft.

Friday night - a great selection of goodies for snacking!!! Thanks Leigh for all your help!!!

Hoped you enjoyed some of the great moments of our Pam Buda week-end!!!

Beautiful day to do a little sewing and hugging!!!  Have a good one :)

Getting started.....

I just love the New Year.....

especially when I finished "all" the things I needed to finish in time for Christmas - Yippie!!!

This past week I started two projects.  Well, one was something I started before Christmas but put it away so I could/would focus on what I needed to accomplish!

Believe it or not one is a Christmas piece - I will share it later in another post.  I generally put Christmas waaaaaaay behind me but this was something I really wanted to do...

Next.............
One of my favorite little blocks is the Churn Dash...it's just clean and simple....I haven't decided what I am doing with these.  I had a plan but now I'm not sure...
they are 6' finished and I will be making about 40....I will keep you posted!

I love keeping a quilt journal.....my daughter gave me this for Christmas.
It's an Erin Condren Design journal....I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! I cant wait to fill it with all my thoughts, ideas, and accomplishments this next year....

We have had beautiful weather here for a few days...just makes me happy!!!!

Be productive and share hugs...it's such a great feeling!

Remember - SMILE always....
